Fresh twist in reported Ibrox transfer pursuit as journalist confirms bid has been submitted

Those Rangers reports surrounding Albion Rrahmani have already taken plenty of twists and turns this week.

The talented striker, 23, has been on fire for Rapid Bucharest this season netting an impressive 19 goals in 30 games following a £600k move from Kosovan club Ballkani last summer.

The Romanian club hold all the aces when it comes to Albion Rrahmani and Rangers were first mentioned by reports in the player’s homeland Kosovo.

Whilst the costs attached to a deal have varied wildly, links to Benfica, Napoli and Aston Villa had raised some serious eyebrows surrounding Rangers’ interest.

Only for the interest to be branded ‘serious’ as Rrahmani appeared to bid farewell to the Rapid support.

It certainly appears like Rangers do at the very least have one eye on the forward.

Throw Neil Lennon’s appointment at the Bucharest club into the mix and suddenly it’s been quite a saga already with the ex-Celtic manager certainly suggesting nothing is said and done.

Now, a local Romanian journalist who has plenty of history covering Rangers has just pulled the brakes on those Ibrox links even if he confirmed one club has submitted an offer for the striker.

Rrahmani subject to transfer bid

Albion Rrahmani does appear to be a player in demand.

But Romanian journalist Emanuel Roşu insists that there has been ‘no offer’ from the Famous Glasgow Rangers as things stand.

That said, the tweet from the independent local journalist, who has worked with the BBC, the Guardian and Four Four Two in the past, does not rule out Rangers interest.

It does however claim that there has only been one official Rrahmani proposal submitted to Rapid Bucharest, although the name of the club for the time being remains undisclosed.

Rangers one of several Rapid star suitors

The news will get Rangers fans talking about the situation with Albion Rrahmani ahead of a busy summer.

There have already been plenty of names mentioned alongside the Ibrox club and the young Kosovan striker is amongst the most prominent.

But Rangers aren’t the only team who’ve been linked, with reports earlier in the season pointing to £2.1m interest from Sparta and Slavia Prague.

With Rapid holding out for up to 3x that amount, reports at the time suggested that both Czech clubs had as a result ruled themselves out of the running.

Champions League teams and clubs from Europe’s top five leagues are also mentioned so we don’t have to tell you that nothing is cut and dry.

But the sounds around Rangers and the striker aren’t going anywhere, even if new Rapid Bucharest manager Neil Lennon wishes they would.
