NFL Week 2 Sunday Preview: Games, Times, Channels, Players To Watch

Giants lose to Cowboys 19-3 in season opener

There are 14 big NFL games set for this Sunday, and here is what you need to know.

NFL Week 2 Preview

The Cincinnati Bengals (2-0) defeated the Baltimore Ravens (1-1) 34-23 at home Thursday night to open Week 2. Many rookies like the New York Giants’ Saquon Barkley, the Jets’ Sam Darnold and Denver’s Bradley Chubb impressed in Week 1, now it remains to be seen if they can put on another strong display on Sunday.

Here are Sunday’s games: (all the times are in EST)

Indianapolis Colts at Washington Redskins

Time: 1 p.m. Channel: CBS

Colts (0-1) offensive tackle Anthony Castonzo is suffering from a persistent hamstring injury, so Andrew Luck could find himself in danger. Meanwhile, Alex Smith will likely pose a big threat to Indianapolis’ defense, especially if he throws to players like tight end Jordan Reed. Adrian Peterson could also deliver a strong performance for Washington (1-0).

Carolina Panthers at Atlanta Falcons

Time: 1 p.m. Channel: FOX

Both teams have several injuries on their roster. The Panthers (1-0) will be missing offensive tackle Daryl Williams and tight end Greg Olsen for a few weeks, while the Falcons (0-1) will be missing linebacker Deion Jones and safety Keanu Neal, who is out for the season with a torn ACL.

Philadelphia Eagles at Tampa Bay Buccaneeers

Time: 1 p.m. EST. Channel: FOX

Tampa Bay (1-0) seems to have relied a lot on Peyton Barber for its running game last weekend against the New Orleans Saints, and it may do the same against the defending national champions this week. The Eagles (1-0) will probably once again suffer from the absence of Alshon Jeffery, who had surgery on his torn rotator cuff. The Eagles also just brought back receiver Kamar Aiken, so we’ll see how that pans out.

Houston Texas at Tennessee Titans

Time: 1 p.m. Channel: CBS

Marcus Mariota was injured in Tennessee’s (0-1) 27-20 loss to Miami last week, but the quarterback is now reportedly healthy enough to play on Sunday against Houston (0-1). However, tight end Delanie Walker — one of Mariota’s most frequent targets — won’t play for a while due to an ankle injury.

For the Texans, running back Dion Lewis will likely be the player to pay the most attention to.

Miami Dolphins at New York Jets

Time: 1 p.m. Channel: CBS

The Jets (1-0) trounced the Detroit Lions 48-17 in their season opener, and seem ready to take on their AFC East rival this week. However, Jets defensive back Marcus Maye has yet to make his start with the team.

Kansas City Chiefs at Pittsburgh Steelers

Time: 1 p.m. Channel: CBS

Second-year Chiefs (1-0) QB Patrick Mahomes has proven he can play good football, so the Steelers — who tied the Browns at 21 in overtime last week — will have to step up their game to face the team that beat the Los Angeles Chargers 38-28 last week.

Los Angeles Chargers at Buffalo Bills

Time: 1 p.m. Channel: CBS

The Bills (0-1) were destroyed by the Ravens 47-3 in Week 1, so rookie QB Josh Allen, running back LeSean McCoy and the rest of Buffalo’s squad will have to organize and communicate well with each other in order to beat the Bolts.

Cleveland Browns at New Orleans Saints

Time: 1 p.m. Channel: FOX

Both teams need to improve on passing accuracy and general offensive strategy.

Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers

Time: 1 p.m. Channel: FOX

Aaron Rodgers is not at his best health-wise, and the Vikings (1-0) could easily take advantage of this. Green Bay (1-0) seems to need improvement on its running game, which will have to face a tough Minnesota defense.

Detroit Lions at San Francisco 49ers

Time: 4:05 p.m. Channel: FOX

Niners QB Jimmy Garoppolo was sacked three times in last week’s loss to Minnesota, but overall San Francisco seems more prepared for this game than Detroit, at least offensively. Matt Stafford threw four picks against the Jets on Monday. Enough said.

Arizona Cardinals at Los Angeles Rams

Time: 4:05 p.m. Channel: FOX

The Cardinals (0-1) struggled last week against the Redskins, especially offensively. After losing 24-6 to Washington, Arizona will have to step it up to beat the Rams (1-0), who beat Oakland 33-13 on Monday.

New England Patriots at Jacksonville Jaguars

Time: 4:25 p.m. Channel: CBS

The Jaguars lead the AFC South after being the only team in the division to win its season opener. Jacksonville beat the New York Giants 20-15 in Week 1, but will likely not pose much of a threat to the Patriots unless Leonard Fournette is healthy and delivers a jaw-dropping performance.

Oakland Raiders at Denver Broncos

Time: 4:25 p.m. Channel: CBS

Case Keenum has proven to be a very accurate QB, and will likely not have much issue continuing to be prolific against the Raiders.

New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys

Time: 8:20 p.m. Channel: NBC

The Cowboys (0-1) fell to Carolina 16-8 last week but could certainly beat the Giants if Dak Prescott throws accurately and if Dallas’ defense can stop players like Barkley and wide receivers Sterling Shepard, Evan Engram and Odell Beckham Jr., who did not deliver much in last week’s game against Jacksonville.
