Don't Miss El Chisme 2020, The Platform To Hear Candidates On Latinx Issues

¡OJO! The 2020 presidential elections look like the most important elections in decades. The number of people of color who are eligible voters is at a historic high, and for this every reason Mijente, a Latino grassroots organization, has launched its platform calledEl Chisme 2020: One-on-One, which aims to put the Democratic candidates' campaigns through a Latino perspective. The first "conversation", as they put it, will be held with Bernie Sanders at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas on Saturday, September 14. Doors open at 2:30 pm and you can sign up here.

Why Latino Turnout Could Define The Do-Or-Die 2020 Elections

"Already it’s clear that the 2020 presidential election will be historic," Mijente explains. "As the youngest and one of the fastest-growing populations, Latinos can be a decisive force in the outcome. Yet we are often invisible in political debate—our issues are not discussed, our communities are not engaged. That’s why we’re inviting Presidential candidates to come speak to us, speak to our issues and get to know our community. Space is limited so please make sure and RSVP - we’ll be getting back to confirm your seat as soon as possible. We’ll be focusing on issues that impact the Latino community, so to best ensure our community can hear from candidates in person we’ll be prioritizing the attendance of folks who identify as Latinx/Chicanx."

@chispaocMijente is a "digital and grassroots hub for Latinx & Chicanx movement building & organizing" and because the Latino perspective is too often absent from the candidates' campaigns, proposals and, most importantly, from the debates, Mijente has organized this series of Q & A to put Latino issues on the map.
