Televangelist Pat Robertson is the latest Republican to rebuke President Donald Trump. On Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN), the firebrand preacher castigated the president for his impulsive decision to suddenly pull the U.S. military out of Syria. Robertson said on CBN’s show The 700 Club that Trump is “losing the mandate of heaven” when the president announced his decision to pull U.S. troops out of Northern Syria.
Robertson is one of the staunchest supporters of Trump in the Republican Party and believes the billionaire to be doing God’s work as president. But he is disappointed that Trump has turned his back on the loyal Kurds and left them vulnerable to slaughter at the hands of Turks and Islamists. He was shocked that Trump took no punitive action against Saudi Arabia even after The Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi’s body was hacked to pieces by Saudi agents.

Robertson disparaged Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan as a “dictator” and a “thug.” Erdogan views the Syrian Kurds as collaborating with Kurdish rebels in his country, who want to oust him from power.
On Wednesday, Erdogan launched a military offensive against the Kurds. Trump has warned Turkey that he will “decimate” their economy if they assault the Kurds.
Prominent Republican politicians like Senate Majority Leader Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) also have condemned Trump’s decision to recall U.S. forces fighting in Syria and abandon the Kurds, a key U.S. ally against the Islamic State.
