Rattlesnake

Release date: October 25, 2019

As part of the Halloween Netflix & Chill season this year, the streaming service will release an original feature film that'll focus on the tribulations of a small girl and her mother after the former is bitten by, you guessed it, a rattlesnake. Despite its name, the film won't really be about the rattlesnake at all (so, don't expect another Anaconda rip-off), but about what happens after it appears. As a mysterious woman saves the bitten girl, she will ask the mother for a disturbing payment in return.

Doctor Sleep

Release date: November 8, 2019

The highly-anticipated sequel to Kubrick's 1980 classic horror flick, The Shining, is coming to movie theaters before the end of the year. Starring Ewan McCregor as a grown-up Danny Torrance, Doctor Sleep is based on Stephen King's book of the same name, and deals with the aftermath of the events that took place at the infamous Overlook Hotel. Danny's past comes back to haunt him, and he must return to the place where it all began in order to protect others like him from those who seek to destroy them.

Black Christmas

Release date: December 13, 2019

This remake of the 1974 classic slasher film is actually a reimagining of the original, featuring a whole new approach to how the women tackle the serial killer to better reflect the new standards of the 21st century. At least, that's what we can expect if the trailer is anything to go by. And I, for one, am intrigued to see how the change turns out.

The Grudge

Release date: January 3, 2020

Going into 2020, The Grudge revisits the American film saga of the same name, originally based on the Japanese Ju-onmovies. The film will feature an original story happening simultaneously to the events shown in the 2004 film, so it's a sort of spin-off. But it will also serve as a reimagining of the saga, trying to find new ways to tell the supernatural horror story while remaining true to the spirit that made the original a classic.
