Rand Paul Demands The Media Unmask Trump-Ukraine Whistleblower

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY)

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) insisted that the media unmask the whistleblower who complained about President Donald Trump‘s call with the Ukrainian president.

Paul made the statement on Monday night at a Trump campaign rally in Kentucky. Standing on-stage beside Trump, he said:

“We also now know the name of the whistleblower. The whistleblower needs to come forward as a material witness because he worked for *oe Biden at the same time Hunter Biden** was getting money from corrupt oligarchs. I say tonight to the media, do your job and print his name. And I say this to my fellow colleagues in Congress, to every Republican in Washington, ‘Step up and subpoena Hunter Biden and subpoena the whistleblower!'”*

The crowd went wild with support for Trump.

Paul’s statement reiterates Trump’s efforts to unmask the informant and refute his allegations. The Aug. 12 intelligence complaint, publicly released in September, led to the Democratic House impeachment inquiry.

Federal whistleblower law is designed to protect against retaliation and exposure.

In a statement, the whistleblower’s attorney Mark Zaid said Paul was “betray[ing] the interests of the Constitution and the American people.”

Zaid added, “A member of Congress who calls for the identity of any lawful whistleblower to be publicly revealed against their wishes disgraces the office they hold and betrays the interests of the Constitution and the American people.”
