Bill Belichick Joked About Cutting Tom Brady

HOUSTON, TX - FEBRUARY 05: Tom Brady #12 of the New England Patriots holds the Vince Lombardi Trophy after defeating the Atlanta Falcons 34-28 in overtime during Super Bowl 51 at NRG Stadium on February 5, 2017 in Houston, Texas.

Entering their 20th season together, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick and star quarterback Tom Brady have their eyes set on their seventh Super Bowl trophy. Pressure comes from the desire to go back-to-back and duplicate what was done in the 2004 and 2005 season.

The 42-year old Brady has been in tandem with 67-year old Belichick for 20 years, creating a football power duo that ranks among the best in history. With so much history, however, comes plenty of stories and plenty of jokes for these two to share.

Belichick made an appearance last Friday on NFL Network’s NFL 100 All-time Team alongside co-hosts Rish Eisen and Cris Collinsworth, as well as special guest Hall of Fame linebacker Ray Lewis. Belichick chose to share a hilarious story of the time he joked about cutting Brady. Belichick said, “I told Brady, if you throw that Y-Shake on Ray Lewis, I’m gonna cut you.” Brady replied, “If I throw that Y Hook route on Ray Lewis, you deserve to cut me.”

Belichick, whose NFL career as a head coach reveals an impressive 302-135 record, is no stranger to success. He is a eight-time Super Bowl champion, a three-time AP NFL Coach of the Year, and holds multiple records throughout his head coaching tenure.

Brady, who is a six time Super Bowl champion and four time Super Bowl MVP, has been by his side for quite an impressive run. As the Patriots (10-1) enter Week 13 against the Texans (7-4), Belichick and Brady seek to continue their dominate reign over the National Football League in their quest for number seven.
