Here Is Spotify's End Of Year And End Of Decade List

We are only a couple of weeks away from the end of 2019 and the end of the decade, and all across the internet we’re seeing reviews of what happened in the last ten years.

This week, streaming platform Spotify released its records of what music lovers around the world were listening to the most this year and throughout the 2010s, and while it’s fun to see the facts for ourselves, it’s also no news, really. The names of the biggest artists and songs on the list are the same names we’ve been talking about over the last few years: Drake, Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, and Post Malone, to name a few.

What the list does do is provide a look at what the Millennials and Gen Zers of the world enjoyed listening to the most, with pop and rap at the top of the of the rankings. Perhaps most interesting is the appearance of Bad Bunny in the fifth spot of the most-streamed artists of 2019 worldwide. His presence on the list is a confirmation of the global rise of Urbano music as well as Spanish-language music in general.

Now, one more thing before we get to the list: can you believe that Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” was the most streamed song of the 2010s? It’s safe to say most of us did not see that one coming.
