Both the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban full-size SUVs have been updated for the 2021 model year to bring more interior space and smart tech to the segment.
As compact and crossover models continue to saturate the SUV segment, Chevrolet has alternatively made its 2021 Tahoe and Suburban full-size utility vehicles even bigger than previous generations. Despite this deviation from the tendency, though, the company did subscribe to the interior display and smart technology trends sweeping across the automotive industry when updating the pair of SUVs.
According to Chevy, the cargo space behind the Tahoe's third row of seats -- now with 10 more inches of legroom -- has increased by 66 percent, whereas the space behind the first row of the Suburban has increased by 19 percent.
The SUVs are powered by one of three engine options: a 5.3L V8 (standard), 6.2L V8 or a 3.0L Duramax turbo-diesel engines, all of which utilize a 10-speed transmission. The driving dynamics are enhanced by an independent rear suspension and air suspension system which can level the load via four inches of height adjustment at each corner.
In terms of tech, both models can be equipped with five displays measuring from 8- to 15-inches -- only one comes standard. A new collection of driver safety features which includes HD Rear Vision Camera, Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert now comes standard while others like a Lane Change Alert are optional.
Both the 2021 Tahoe and Suburban will go on sale in North America in mid-2020. Pricing and more specs will be revealed closer to the models' releases.
