A new ultra low-cost airline is set to make its debut out of Abu Dhabi next year.
Budapest-based carrier Wizz Air, the largest low-cost airline servicing Central and Eastern Europe, has announced that it has reached an agreement in principle for the launch of Wizz Air Abu Dhabi in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Development Holding Company.
Wizz Air Abu Dhabi is expected to launch in the second half of next year and connect Central, Eastern and Western Europe to destinations in the Indian subcontinent, Middle East and Africa.
The Wizz Air announcement comes after Etihad revealed in October plans to launch a low-cost carrier with Air Arabia that will also launch in 2020 called Air Arabia Abu Dhabi.
The two will compete with another budget airline, FlyDubai.
