アメリカ・シアトルに本社を置き、画像や映像などデジタルコンテンツを世界200か国以上に提供する Getty Images（ゲッティイメージズ）は、日本国内で2019年に話題となったできごとを写真で振り返る「Photos of the Year 2019 by Getty Images」を発表。

アカデミー賞やラグビーワールドカップ2019といった国際的なイベントから、新天皇が初めて国民の前に登場したようすや、人類初のブラックホール撮影に成功した写真など、2019年のニュースを写真で振り返る。

また、ゲッティイメージズ ジャパン島本久美子 代表取締役社長が選ぶ「今年の一枚」も発表。島本代表が選んだのは、トランプ米大統領がスピーチしたさいの手書きメモを撮影した一枚。ゲッティイメージズならではのユニークな視点から撮影した一枚のひとつ。
