Vice President Mike Pence defended President Donald Trump‘s decision to assassinate Maj. Gen. Qassim Soleimani in a drone strike at the Baghdad International Airport in a series of tweets, which pressed a false conspiracy theory connecting the Sept. 11, 2001, Islamic terrorist attacks to Iran.
In the series of tweets, Pence depicted Trump as a hero and simultaneously called Soleimani an evil terrorist who had been responsible for the slaughtering of thousands of Americans. He then listed some of Soleimani’s most grotesque actions against the U.S. Pence also portrayed Soleimani as a man who had threatened American national security interests for decades.

In one of his tweets, Pence claimed that Soleimani organized the attempted assassination of the Saudi Ambassador to the United States in 2011 – and that he oversaw a terrorist attack attempt on American grounds.
In another social media outburst, he shared that Soleimani had provided Iraqi insurgents with advanced weaponry and training to conduct attacks on U.S. and coalition forces, in which he had been directly responsible for 603 deaths of U.S. service members and thousands of others injured.
In another one of his tweets, Pence wrote that Soleimani helped 10 of the al-Queda hijackers, who suicide mission for the Sept. 11 flights, crossed through the Iranian border and entered Afghanistan. The content of the tweet does not correlate with the established historical accounts of Soleimani, nor does it match up with public United States intelligence about the Islamic terrorists.
Pence went on to list a myriad of Soleimani’s terrorist-style activities.
He then claimed that the world had become a safer place without Soleimani.
