After dressing iconic celebrities such as Beyoncé, Solange, Issa Rae, and Lena Waithe, celebrity stylist Shiona Turini had the opportunity to dress none other than the most popular doll in the world: Barbie. This new collection, shared byBarbie Style on an Instagram post, celebrates two important things: the 40th anniversary of the first Black Barbie doll and Black History Month.
The stylist collaborated as creative consultant with Barbie to develop a series that celebrates diversity through fashion.
"It was important for me to reflect on Barbie as an icon through the lens of black culture during Black History Month. I drew inspiration from the first black Barbie seated in her all-red look. I incorporated her into the lineup with no alteration and built new looks with inspiration from an outfit ➡️ that makes me feel confident and empowered," said Shiona Turini.

This campaign is a four-part collection with more than twenty looks. The first one is inspired by the first Black Barbie, so all the dolls are wearing red dresses, just like the original, who is sitting in the middle, looking fabulous on her 40th anniversary.
"Here she is, on her customized throne, surrounded by friends created and styled by me. I hope other young children, and adult Barbie lovers, are as excited to see themselves reflected in these dolls as I am," shared the designer on an Instagram post.
The second collection features the dolls wearing dresses in vibrant colorsthat make them look gorgeous. And the other collections will feature the Barbies in fashionable outfits in different shades, such as elegant black and a very interesting choice of mauve and pink.
These dolls are part of a series released by Barbie that celebrates representation with different body shapes and disabilities, making it inclusive for everyone.

And she will be an iconic doll in every Barbie fan collection.
