Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s wife, Sophie Gregoire Trudeau tested positive for COVID-19 on March 12 after returning from London.

Since then, a video of a hospitalised woman is going viral on WhatsApp with a claim that the woman in the clipping is Candian PM’s wife, undergoing treatment for coronavirus.

In the video, the woman in the ICU bed is seen warning people not to take chances amid the COVID-19 outbreak and that, she is unable to breathe without medical equipment.

On analysing, the team of fact-checkers have found this claim to be false and misleading. On breaking down the video and doing a Reverse Image Search on the keyframes of the video, we came across an article in Daily Mail UK, published on March 19, 2020.

According to the article, the woman in the video is 39-year-old Tara Jane Langston, a resident of the UK.

Apparently, she was diagnosed with COVID-19 on March 15 and therefore, was admitted at Hillingdon Hospital in West London for the treatment. She filmed herself with her phone in the intensive care unit urging people to take necessary precautions against the outbreak of COVID-19.

Therefore, it is clear that the video of a COVID-19 patient from London is being falsely claimed as the Canadian PM’s wife.
