Garth Brooks & Wife Trisha Yearwood Hold Online Concert For 3 Million Fans

Country music star Garth Brooks and his wife, country singer Trisha Yearwood, took to Facebook live to perform an online concert together.

The concert, called “Inside Studio G,” drew more than 3 million viewers. The online performance was so popular it caused the Facebook Live website to crash multiple times. Commenters on the website jokingly asked the two-time Grammy Award winner, “Garth, did you break the internet?” Because of the technical difficulties, Brooks took to Twitter after the show to make an announcement.

Because of the multiple site crashes, Brooks decided to keep the full recording of the concert on Facebook Live until March 24. Country music fans lucky enough to see the concert received a treat. Brooks and Yearwood performed songs from a variety of eras and genres: the country classic “Golden Rings,” originally performed by Tammy Wynette and George Jones; Hallelujah, originally performed by folk singer Leonard Cohen; and the recent pop hit “Shallow,” the Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga duet from the 2018 remake of A Star is Born.

In an emotional moment, while Yearwood sang a rendition of “Amazing Grace,” Brooks talked to the audience, tears in his eyes, about weathering through the coronavirus pandemic. “We’re all in this together,” he said.
