Carnival Cruises has announced plans to lift anchor and begin sailing again as early as this summer.
On Monday, the leisure giant began advising guests and travel agents of its intention to gradually resume services in a "phase-in" approach that will begin August 1 for travel from North America.
Eight ships will set sail from Miami, Port Canaveral and Galveston.
While cruises from the trio of ports will resume, Carnival also confirmed the cancellation of other sailings in North America and Australia, including all other itineraries scheduled up until July 31.
Last month, the Centers for Disease Control in the US extended their "no-sail" order for cruise ships, originally implemented March 14, by another 100 days as of April 9.
Other cancellations include trips scheduled for September and October, including the Carnival Spirit Vancouver-Honolulu cruise slated to leave September 25 and the Honolulu-Brisbane cruise scheduled to leave October 6.
Travelers affected by the rescheduling will be notified by email and can receive credit for the trip or request a full refund.
