Tom Brady Streak In Jeopardy With Week One Game Against New Orleans

Tom Brady #12 of the New England Patriots

With the NFL schedule being released on Thursday night, one takeaway is that a notable streak might be in jeopardy.

Week 1 will see the Tom Brady-led Tampa Bay Buccaneers square off against Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints, in New Orleans. The Saints opened up a 6.5-point favorite according to Caesars Sportsbook.

If this line holds, it will be the first time since Week 2 of the 2015 season where Brady will not be favored in a regular-season game. That is a streak of 74 regular-season games, the longest active streak in the NFL (Brees has the second-longest streak in the NFL).

Brady has thrived as an underdog during his career, winning 29 of 47 games in his career. During his time with the New England Patriots, Brady and the Pats went 33-13-1 against the spread as an underdog when Brady started.

Brees and Brady are first and second in NFL history in passing touchdowns and passing yards. Brees is 3-2 vs. Brady in their careers. The two will face off twice this season. The first in Week 1, the second time in Week 9.
