Redesign economic goals to align with healthcare needs

As we fight COVID-19, let’s resolve to change for the better. Here are some ways in which we can ensure a healthier post-pandemic world.

COVID-19 holds a mirror up to the healthcare systems of the world. The lines between developed systems and developing systems are fading, as both continue to suffer equally from the pandemic. The sad reality is that healthcare is neglected in all countries, irrespective of their socio-economic status.

Now is the time to pay heed to the importance of health. Countries must redesign their economic goals such that they align with healthcare needs. Buying ventilators is not enough, we need to invest in the right infrastructure and resources to make a difference.

In India, we are seeing the public healthcare sector get overwhelmed with COVID-19 cases, while the private sector is looking at ways to get patients back to the hospital! As we fight this pandemic, let’s resolve to change for the better. Here are some ways in which we can ensure a healthier post-pandemic world:

The fact of the matter is that no economy can progress with a fragile healthcare sector. COVID-19 has made that amply clear! Let’s learn from our mistakes and emerge stronger.
