President Donald Trump‘s campaign removed stickers encouraging social distancing prior to the president’s Tulsa rally.
Management at the Bank of Oklahoma Center had purchased 12,000 stickers that read “Do Not Sit Here, Please!” and began placing them on nearly every other seat in the arena when the Trump campaign asked them to stop and began removing them, according to the Washington Post.
The rally, which had a low turnout rate of only 6,200 people, was meant to be Trump’s foray onto the campaign trail.
However, hosting an indoor, mask-optional rally in a county with more than 2700 COVID-19 cases prompted backlash.
Although the campaign performed temperature checks and provided face masks and hand sanitizer, safety precautions went largely ignored.
Despite ample room in the arena due to the low turnout, photos from the event show several attendees not wearing face masks and failing to social distance.
