5 People Arrested In Murder Of Rapper Pop Smoke At Home Of ‘RHOBH’ Star Teddi Mellencamp

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - DECEMBER 15: Rapper Pop Smoke performs onstage during day 2 of the Rolling Loud Festival at Banc of California Stadium on December 15, 2019 in Los Angeles, California.

Police arrested five people on Thursday in connection with the shooting and killing of Brooklyn-based rapper Pop Smoke in Los Angeles.

The 20-year-old rapper, who was born Bashar Barakah Jackson, was gunned down in a rented Hollywood Hills home on February 19, during a suspected robbery that turned deadly.

Three adult males and two juvenile males were arrested, according to the Los Angeles Police Department’s Twitter account. Two of the adults arrested, Corey Walker and Keandre D. Rogers, were charged with murder, along with the two juveniles, and the third adult, Jaquan Murphy, was charged with attempted murder. Bail has been set at $1 million for each of the suspects.

Pop Smoke was killed in the early morning the day after he showed the address of the home he was staying at on social media, while flaunting gift bags and stacks of money. The rapper was celebrating the release of his second mixtape, Meet The Woo 2, which debuted at no. 7 on the Billboard Top 200.

Officials believe the suspects did not know Pop Smoke personally, and found him when he posted his address online. The house belongs to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Teddi Mellencamp and her husband, who rented out the property to the rapper.

Detectives also believe that the rapper’s connection to the Crips gang may have had something to do with the attack, as the arrested suspects are tied to a LA based gang.

Pop Smoke was best known for his hit single “Welcome To The Party,” which was remixed by stars like Nicki Minaj and Skepta.
