Apple has removed Fortnite from the App store

Epic Games recently launched the 'Fortnite Mega Drop': where they have reduced the cost of V-buck purchases for gamers playing on PC, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One by up to 20 per cent.

For people who play the title on iOS and Android, they can also get these discounted prices through the new "Epic direct payment" option; but gamers paying through the App Store or Google Play will be charged the original higher price.

While this may sound like a good offer to gamers, the title has now been removed from Apple's App store.

Apple said in a statement to The Verge: "Epic Games took the unfortunate step of violating the App Store guidelines that are applied equally to every developer and designed to keep the store safe for our users. As a result their Fortnite app has been removed from the store."

Epic have since responded to the game's removal by releasing a parody of Apple's iconic '1984' advert, in which they urged gamers to support them in their fight against Apple in order to "#FreeFortnite".
