In 2011, Stormy Daniels, the adult film actor who claims to have had an affair with President Donald Trump, revealed in an interview with In Touch Weekly that Trump was terrified of and obsessed with sharks. On Thursday, Trump verified her words by going on a comical tangent about his hatred of sharks.
“I’m not a big fan of sharks, either,” Trump said at a Pennsylvania rally. “I don’t know, how many votes am I going to lose?”
He continued, “I have people calling up saying, ‘Sir, we want to have a fund to save the shark. It’s called Save the Shark.’ I say, ‘No thank you, I have other things to contribute to.'”
The “other thing” he contributed to may be the hush fund of Stormy Daniels, who had been paid $130,000 shortly before the 2016 election for a non-disclosure agreement. Daniels later signed a statement denying that she had had an affair with Trump.
Trump’s galeophobia lines up with Daniels’ interview comments. According to Daniels, he said something along the lines of, “I donate to all these charities and I would never donate to any charity that helps sharks. I hope all the sharks die.”
This is not the first time since Daniels’ reveal that Trump publicly announced his hatred of sharks. Two tweets from 2013 further corroborate Daniels’ account.
“Sharks are last on my list – other than perhaps the losers and haters of the World!” Trump tweeted.
He also tweeted, “Sorry folks, I’m just not a fan of sharks – and don’t worry, they will be around long after we are gone.”
The shark statement also caused people to doubt Trump’s mental capabilities. Comments on Twitter pointed out that Trump may be projecting dementia onto Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden and joked that he may have paid someone to take his infamous cognitive test for him.
