House Speaker Nancy Pelosi Says She Was ‘Set Up’ By Hair Salon For Photos Of Mask-less Visit

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-California) said Monday that a San Francisco hair salon “set her up,” after photos appeared of her getting her hair done without a mask surfaced against statewide COVID-19 rules.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) banned indoor haircuts and required patrons to wear masks of businesses operating during the pandemic.

In a statement Wednesday, Pelosi said, “I take responsibility for trusting the word of the neighborhood salon that I’ve been to, over the years, many times, and that when they said what we’re able to accommodate people, one person, at a time, and that we can set up that time, I trusted that. As it turns out, that was the setup. So, I take responsibility for falling for a setup. And that’s all I’m going to say on that… I think that this salon owes me an apology for setting me up.”

Footage of Pelosi had circulated that featured her wearing her mask around her neck.

First to respond was Trump who threatened to “send Nancy packing,” calling her “crazy Nancy” and making promises that the Republican Party would take control over the House of Representatives again.

Pelosi’s spokesperson Drew Hammill stated Tuesday evening that the representative had followed all requirements requested by her stylist in the appointment process.

“The Speaker always wears a mask and complies with local COVID requirements. This business offered for the Speaker to come in on Monday and told her they were allowed by the city to have one customer at a time in the business. The Speaker complied with the rules as presented to her by this establishment,” Hammill said in a statement.
