Conor McGregor, 32, was arrested and later released on Sept. 12 after being accused of attempted sexual assault and indecent exposure, according to prosecutors.

The Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) legend denied the charges against him.

A complaint was filed against McGregor on Sept. 10 with facts that will most likely qualify as sexual assault and indecent exposure. The court hearing took place in Bastia, a city on the French island of Corsica, where McGregor is currently vacationing with his wife Dee Devlin and kids.

While the Irish MMA legend announced his third retirement from the sport earlier in June, McGregor was in France to attend a charity bike event that would raise aware of water safety. The event was launched by Princess Charlene of Monaco, 42, on Sept. 12.

Following the news of his arrest he was forced to withdraw from the event, which is set to be a 180km voyage from Corsica to Monaco. The Irishman had been training for weeks to take part in the charity event.

McGregor’s manager Audie Attar was quick to shut down the allegations against his client.

“I am irate and putting out a warning loud and clear: Conor McGregor is not and will not be a target for those seeking to score a headline or a payday,” Attar told the New York Post.

This is not the first time McGregor has encounters with the law. In 2018, the fighter was sentenced to complete community service hours after throwing a hand truck at a bus filled with other fighters at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.

In 2019, McGregor was arrested and held in jail for four hours before posting bail. He was charged with strong armed robbery and criminal mischief, after a fight with a fan who reportedly wanted to take a picture of the star.
