Week 2 Waiver Wire Adds/Drops

The waiver wire is crucial to fantasy football success. So whether you feel great about your team through one week or you’re ready to throw in the towel, here are some waiver wire adds and drops heading into Week 2.

Adds:

Malcolm Brown | RB, Los Angeles Rams

Brown is the bell-cow for the Rams. There is still room for rookie Cam Akers to be more involved in the offense, but Brown is the guy that McVay and the coaching staff trust the most in run protection, so he will be on the field more often than any other back on the team. As the backup to Todd Gurley, Brown always found a role, which is only more prominent for this season. He’s capable of being your RB2 or FLEX option to fill in for an injury or a tough matchup.

)#### Scotty Miller | WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Miller works well in the slot and will see plenty of favorable matchups because of the talent around him. Tom Brady has always enjoyed throwing to shifty slot receivers and Miller fits that mold. Miller had five catches for 73 yards against the Saints on a day where Brady struggled. He isn’t a weekly starter but can be effective in certain matchups.

Marquez Valdez-Scantling | WR, Green Bay Packers

This is a boom or bust waiver addition, who might have more boom than bust in 2020. The Packers offense exploded for 43 points on Sunday, and while that won’t be sustainable, they have the opportunity to score like that on any given Sunday. Valdez-Scantling can be the beneficiary of a bounceback season from Aaron Rodgers because of the lack of other viable pass-catchers on the team outside of Davante Adams. He isn’t startable just yet, but worth having on the bench in case he shows improvement in his third full season.

Greg Olsen | TE, Seattle Seahawks

Tight end is the least deep position in fantasy football this year. Olsen will be a consistent performer this year as a red-zone target for Russell Wilson. He won’t be a high target guy, somewhere in the range of 8-12 points per week, so he’s a safe play if your current tight end is too inconsistent or injured.

)### Drops:

Tevin Coleman | RB, San Francisco 49ers

It’s become clear that 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan prefers to go running back by committee, but Coleman seems to get the short end of the stick. He only had four carries and two targets in the passing game. He did have 18 yards on those four carries, but Raheem Mostert outworked him with 15 carries for 56 yards. Barring an injury to Mostert, Coleman won’t be getting enough carries to be used in a fantasy lineup.

Justin Jackson | RB, Los Angeles Chargers

With Melvin Gordon now a member of the Denver Broncos, many thought Jackson would be the complement to Austin Ekeler. That was not the case in week one, as rookie running back Joshua Kelley appears to have earned that role. Jackson received 2 of the 33 running back carries for the Chargers. That gap will remain steady.

Marlon Mack | RB, Indianapolis Colts

This has nothing to do with performance. Mack tore his Achilles in the Colts’ season-opening loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. He will miss the remainder of the season.
