Singer Ray J Files For Divorce From Princess Love After 4 Years Of Marriage

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - FEBRUARY 26: Singer Ray J visits SiriusXM Studios on February 26, 2019 in New York City.

Singer William Ray Norwood Jr., better known by his stage name Ray J, is seeking a divorce from his marriage with his fashion designer wife of four years, Princess Love. This move comes only a few months after Love had dismissed her own divorce filings, giving the impression that the couple was on the path to reconciling.

Norwood filed for divorce at Los Angeles County Court, with a request that he receive joint custody of their two children, Melody Love and Epik Ray.

When asked by E News as to what motivated the separation, Ray J said, “You know, I love her and I love my babies and it’s just personal, but she knows how I feel about her. I just think that I want to make sure everybody is happy, that everybody enjoys life and that this can help her smile more and enjoy who she is and enjoy her life. You know, sometimes it’s the best thing to do.”

According to Page Six, the couple had gone through recent marital trouble that extended as far back as November when Ray J reportedly left Love in a Las Vegas hotel while she was pregnant with one of their children. Love perceived this as being “stranded” so that Ray J. could visit a gentleman’s club. Norwood said that he later apologized for any misconduct.

This did not stop Love from pursuing a divorce later in May, requesting full custody of both children. In July, Love asked to have the filings dismissed, which hinted at their pursuit of a resolution. Norwood reinforced this idea by publishing a photo on Instagram of the two embracing with a caption that read, “Happy Birthday my love! I’m so happy and blessed to spend today with you and our family. God is the greatest! Everybody pls wish my wife @princesslove #HAPPYBIRTHDAY.”
