Thursday Night Football DFS: Week 3

This week, the Thursday night game on paper is one of the lesser interesting games to watch this weekend. However, that’s what DFS is for right? It makes the games more interesting even when it is two teams expected to be at the bottom of the standings. The Thursday night game features Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Miami Dolphins as they head up to Jacksonville to face Gardner Minshew and the Jaguars. Coming into the game, there was some early week smack talk between both quarterbacks. It will be a battle between the mustache and the beard, Minshew Mania vs. Fitzmagic, two Florida teams battling it out in primetime.

DraftKings Captain

Preston Williams (DK Captain $10,200 | FD $8,000)

Williams has struggled severely to start the season. Many people, including myself, expected him to break out this year. It just hasn’t happened thus far. However, there is still some hope. Weeks 1 and 2 he faced much tougher defenses. This week he gets a better matchup against a Jaguars team that gave up a couple of touchdowns to Tennessee Titans’ wide receivers last week. Williams is at a great price in the Captain spot. He has big-play ability and this game has the potential to be a high scoring affair. Look for Williams to finally put together a big night in primetime.

FanDuel MVP

DJ Chark (DK $9,400 | FD $13,000)

Chark was limited in practice earlier this week and was out for Wednesday’s practice. However, if he does play he has the potential to score a lot of fantasy points. Last week the Buffalo Bills deep threats were able to both have big games. Bills new wide receiver Stefon Diggs went for 153 yards and one touchdown while John Brown added 82 yards and one touchdown against the Dolphins secondary. Chark can put up similar numbers especially with the Dolphins best cornerback Byron Jones out with a groin injury. Make sure to keep track of Chark’s injury but if he is good to go plug him into your lineups.

High Salary

Gardner Minshew (DK $11,000 | FD $16,000)

Minshew has looked pretty good to start the season. He has six touchdowns and 512 passing yards in just two games this season. The Dolphins defense is coming off a game where they just allowed Josh Allen to throw for a career-high in yards and touchdowns in a single game. The defense is also banged up with Jones out, so the wide receivers should be able to find gaps in coverage. Minshew is going to have to continue to play strong all year to show he’s a quarterback the Jaguars can build around. Look for him to continue to impress and put together another great game.

Value

Matt Breida (DK $1,800 | FD $7,000)

Breida is a bit risky but if it works out he is going to save you a ton of salary. The Dolphins backfield is crowded but Breida still has talent. He will likely be less owned than the other running backs and has the ability to make big plays. Breida was second on the team in terms of snap count. Jordan Howard will get the goal line carries, so if Breida is going to score, he will have to make a big play. Breida started to get involved in the passing attack last week with a couple of targets. Look for Breida to do just enough with his limited touches to provide plenty of value on this slate.
