Fanelli's Fave Five Bets for Monday Night Football: Week 3

Thankfully, Week 3 hasn’t had the number of the season-ending injuries that Week 2 did. To celebrate the mostly healthy Week 3 slate of games, the NFL provided us with the biggest game of the year tonight. The Kansas City Chiefs head to Baltimore to take on the Ravens, in a matchup of what most consider the two best teams in the league. Hopefully, we have an entertaining game with limited injuries and the chance to make some money. While fans and fantasy football players have rooting interests, for gamblers, their only rooting interest is whatever will lead to money in their pocket. However, which bets should they place from tonight’s game? Here are five bets gamblers should consider placing.

Be sure to place your bets with Jazz Sportsbook for the best odds and excellent promotions.

Patrick Mahomes over 1.5 Passing Touchdowns (-215)

So far this season, Mahomes has five touchdown passes. He threw two last week against the Los Angeles Chargers and three in the season opener against the Houston Texans. However, the Ravens defense is far and away the best defense Mahomes will face this season. They have given up just two passing touchdowns this season, one to Baker Mayfield and the other to Deshaun Watson. However, neither is as great as Mahomes. While the price on his over/under 2.5 passing touchdowns is +245, gamblers shouldn’t be confident that Mahomes reaches three passing touchdowns against this Ravens defense. Instead, despite the heavy price, bettors should go for the safer over at 1.5 touchdowns.

Lamar Jackson to Score an Anytime Touchdown (+110)

For those of you who are new to sports betting, for this bet to cash, Jackson must have either a rushing or receiving touchdown. Jackson throwing a touchdown will not count towards this bet. With that said, Jackson has yet to score a rushing touchdown this season. However, last season he finished tied for second among quarterbacks and tied for 14th overall with seven. The good news is Jackson should score his first rushing touchdown of the season tonight. In each of their games so far this season, the Chiefs have given up a rushing touchdown to the opposing quarterback. Look for Jackson to have a statement game tonight and score at least once on the ground.

Travis Kelce to Score the First Touchdown of the Game (+950)

Normally first touchdown scorer bets are a sucker’s bet as they are almost like randomly pulling a name out of a hat. However, in each of the Chiefs’ first two games this season, Kelce has scored the first touchdown for the Chiefs. They seem to focus on him early in the game and try to set the tone with him. Furthermore, the two passing touchdowns the Ravens have given up this season have gone to tight ends David Njoku and Darren Fells. Kelce is the best tight end in football, so don’t be surprised if he scores the first touchdown of the game. For those of you who want to play it safer, Kelce to score an anytime touchdown is +115 and also a good bet.

Miles Boykin Over 2.5 Receptions (-139)

This number seems off. Not only does Boykin have at least three receptions in both games this season, but he has caught seven of his nine targets. The nine targets are tied for the second-most on the team with Mark Andrews and just three behind Marquise Brown. Furthermore, Boykin is leading the Ravens’ wide receivers in snaps played, playing 71 percent of the snaps. Bashaud Breeland is suspended for this game, while Charvarius Ward is questionable to play with a hand injury. With both possibly out, that leaves rookie L’Jarius Sneed covering Brown. Look for Jackson to target whoever is covering Boykin several times tonight. Boykin should have no problem bringing in his third receptions before the start of the fourth quarter.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire Under 90.5 Scrimmage Yards (-112)

The rookie running back has been impressive so far this season, but now he faces a very good Ravens defense. In the season opener, CEH had 138 scrimmage yards against the Texans. However, last week he had just 70 against the Chargers. Meanwhile, the Ravens have yet to give up 90 scrimmage yards to a running back this season despite facing three good ones. They held Kareem Hunt to 81 and Nick Chubb to 66 in Week 1, while giving up just 70 to David Johnson last week. Expect the Ravens to shut down the impressive rookie tonight.
