This tiny lapel mic can record high-quality wherever you are

American start-up Hooke Audio has presented an innovative wireless microphone, which can easily be clipped onto clothing and offers optimal audio quality regardless of the distance that separates it from the recording device (smartphone, computer, camera etc.). The product, which is designed for YouTubers, streamers, musicians and teachers of online courses, is suitable for both amateur and professional recording. In short, it could be a solution for anyone who needs hands-free and mobile functionality combined with high-quality sound.

Christened the Hooke Lav, the discreet microphone captures professional quality sound without lag, dropouts, or background noise. Easy to connect to a smartphone or a computer via Bluetooth, it allows for excellent recording conditions even at considerable distances. At just 10 grams, the lightweight device has a battery life of around seven hours, and is also equipped with an internal memory of 8 GB.

A key feature of the Hooke Lav is the fact that it can be used to replace the microphone on a smartphone. Hooke Audio has created a dedicated application for Android and iOS, which not only records audio from the microphone via Bluetooth, but also films using the phone's camera.

Until Thursday, October 22, internet users can order the new mic at a reduced price of 109 dollars from the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter, with first deliveries planned for the spring of 2021. Thereafter the Hooke Lav will retail for 179 dollars, but given its wildly successful launch, it may be some time before production of the Hooke Lav is ramped up to meet demand.
