Model Nickayla Rivera has put a stop to rumors that she and her ex-brother-in-law, Ryan Dorsey, have begun to date following her sister Naya Rivera’s death. On Monday, she posted a message to her Instagram story, and though she didn’t directly address the Daily Mail article that started the rumors, her meaning was clear.

“In the darkest time of my life, the only thing that is important is my friends and family. Showing up for my nephew, even though I can’t show up for myself,” Rivera wrote in her stories.

Her post came after fans of her sister Naya flooded her Instagram comments to attack Rivera for her decision to move in with Dorsey. Rivera asserts that she made her decision for the sake of Naya and Dorsey’s son, Josey, but the Daily Mail article which covered it suggested the pair had been flirting, and were moving in together as part of a budding romance.

“Gross and sad couldn’t find someone that was not the father of your nephew or your ex brother in law

“So interesting that your smooching off her husbamd, now that shes gone. Btw R.I.P Naya,” another commenter wrote on this post, months after it was originally made.

“You wrong sis… this is some foul shit. I was rooting for you until I just seen the pics of y’all holding hands

Meanwhile, the comments under this post of Dorsey’s were mostly emoji hearts and positive messages. Fans of Rivera mostly seemed to target Nickayla, despite both of their participation in their supposed relationship. Nonetheless, Dorsey made a post addressing the rumors, discrediting them and thanking Nickayla for moving in in accordance with the wishes of Naya’s son.

“I’m not concerned with the way things look because no one can see each agonizing moment we all endure,” Nickayla wrote in her Monday stories. “What matters most I’ve learned, is to show compassion, not to judge others, & never take a moment of life for granted. I hope you all can do the same.”
