Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War to get 'quite an upgrade'

'Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War' will see "quite an upgrade" in its beta version.

The game's lead gameplay systems developer, Tony Flame, has teased what fans can expect from the new game, which starts its launch on October 8 on PS4 for those who have pre-ordered.

He wrote on Twitter: "The Black Ops Cold War Beta is quite an upgrade over the Alpha. I don't think anyone quite realises what this team can do in a short amount of time. From new features to the core feel, nearly everything has taken leaps forward. My favourite part tho: the new lobby music kicks it. (sic)"

After its October 8 release date, all PS4 players will then be able to access it on October 10, with pre-ordering PC and Xbox One customers then allowed to download it on October 15. By October 17, it will be available on all platforms.

Flame previously revealed there was "tons of polish and features yet to come".

He wrote on Twitter last month: "Wow, data says ALOT of you are playing the Black Ops Cold War Alpha. Thank you! ... This is truly an early Alpha build, with multiple structural improvements, tons of polish and features yet to come. It's an early peak of where we're going. We'll get to the final product together ... Crossplay is coming, but we knew it wouldn't be in Alpha. We buffed Snipers to evaluate their performance in this Alpha specifically. Sniper Rifles WILL have balance changes for the upcoming Beta based on our analytics data this weekend. (sic)"
