Simon Cowell walking 10k steps a day after back injury

Simon Cowell is walking 10,000 steps a day as he continues his recovery after breaking his back.

The 61-year-old music mogul was rushed to hospital at the beginning of August when he fell from his electric bike in Malibu, but daily physio sessions, exercise and constant care from his girlfriend Lauren Silverman are helping him to get back on track.

A source told the New York Post's Page Six: "Simon's having little or no visitors due to COVID, but he's doing 10,000 steps a day and swimming regularly. It's become an ongoing joke that Lauren has to run to keep up with him.”

His friend and 'Britain's Got Talent' co-star Amanda Holden said: "He's doing well. I keep in touch with Lauren every week. His will and determination to get himself better is inspiring."

Meanwhile, Simon's long-time showbiz pal Sinitta, previously confessed to feeling very concerned about the TV star.

She shared: "It was a serious accident. So for people who love him, like me, it was very, very scary.

"He's taken some steps, so he has reassured himself that he's not paralysed. But he's got to take his time and get well."

Simon had originally hoped to return to the UK to star in the 'Britain's Got Talent' Christmas special, but he's been forced to pull out of the show, with Diversity's Ashley Banjo expected to fill his shoes.

A source previously said: "Simon hoped he'd be well enough to fly from Los Angeles to the UK for the special show but he's had to pull out.

"Plus the new lockdown measures - and him having to fly two weeks before the show so he could quarantine in advance - made it even more difficult for him to make the journey.

"Simon will of course be across the show and what happens on it but this is a massive blow for him."
