Xbox boss think the Xbox Series S will end up outselling the Xbox Series X in the future

Microsoft previously announced that as well as their next-gen console the Xbox Series X, in November they will also be releasing a cheaper and lower-spec version called the Xbox Series S.

Now Xbox chief Phil Spencer has revealed that the cheaper console could end up becoming more popular than the Xbox Series X by outselling it by the end of the upcoming console generation.

Spencer told Kotaku: “I think, over the generation, our expectation would be that price really matters and that you would see the Series S sell more.”

However, he also predicts that the Xbox series X will sell more at launch, as he believes both Microsoft’s console and Sony’s next-gen console (the PS5) will “sell every unit” when they’re released.

Spencer also said: “I think we’ll sell every unit of both of them that we can deliver. I think demand is just going to outstrip supply of pre-orders. For us and PlayStation, I think that the manufacturing supply chain is going to dictate [market] share more than anything else.”
