Week 7 Preview: Buffalo Bills vs. New York Jets

The New York Jets return home to MetLife Stadium to face their division rival Buffalo Bills on Sunday afternoon. Josh Allen will square off against Sam Darnold as the Bills sit atop the AFC East with a 4-2 record while the Jets are dead last in the division and the NFL with a 0-6 record.

New York Jets

The Jets are coming off a brutal beating from the Dolphins in which they lost 24-0. To make matters worse, they are showing no signs of improvement. They undoubtedly will look fairly terrible against a better team in the Bills. The Jets also recently released Le’Veon Bell, who has since signed with the Chiefs. Additionally, New York traded nose tackle Steve McLendon to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and linebacker Jordan Willis to the San Francisco 49ers. The Jets are also without Frankie Luvu (groin strain) and Alex Lewis (shoulder) while the statuses of Denzel Mims (hamstrings) and Chuma Edoga (calf) remain up in the air. Meanwhile, Sam Darnold will returner as the starter under center, but wide receivers Breshad Perriman and Jamison Crowder are now both listed as questionable.

Buffalo Bills

The Bills are coming off back-to-back losses to the Kansas City Chiefs and Tennessee Titans. They will look to regain their identity against the Jets and get Allen and Stefon Diggs back in sync. The Bills had just 206 yards of offense against the Chiefs last week which included only 122 passing yards from Allen and 46 receiving from Diggs. The Bills’ defense has also not been as advertised.

The Bills are currently the 13-point favorites to beat the winless Jets, who lack healthy talent on their offense and are struggling mightily on defense.

Prediction

The Jets are very hard to lose to, so the Bills will likely slam the hammer down on Sunday. New York’s defense is now very young and rusty, which should allow Allen to thrive.
