Selena Gomez has personally asked Google's CEO to ban ads spreading misinformation about the upcoming presidential election

The pop megastar revealed on her Instagram Story this week that she sent a DM to Pichai, the CEO of Alphabet Inc., the parent company to Google, to urge the business executive to "shut down immediately" any ads containing false information about the vote on November 3.

The 'Ice Cream' singer wrote: "Hi Sundar, although we have never met, I just learned that Google is making millions of dollars putting ads on websites that spread disinformation about our election.

"I'm hoping you are also just finding this out too. Please shut this down immediately. The fate of our country depends on it."

Google spokesperson Christa Muldoon has insisted they take "appropriate action" to remove such content as it violates their policies.
