Brazilian football player Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior might soon have some competition on the way, as Real Madrid's Carlos Henrique Casimiro has signed a professional Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team.

Casemiro has officially launched a Brazilian esports brand called CaseEsports, and he's starting with CSGO. The footballer announced the signing of an entire CSGO squad earlier this week ahead of the upcoming 20th anniversary of Counter-Strike's 1.0 release. The football player joins other celebrities across the globe who have decided to invest in the esports ecosystem, including Michael Jordan, Alex Rodriguez, and Steph Curry.

Casemiro's CSGO squad to debut at DreamHack Open Winter qualifiers

The squad includes young Brazilian players Paulo “land1n” Felipe, Denis “dzt” Fisher, Felipe Delboni, Yan “yepz” Pedretti, and Vinicius “n1ssim” Pereira. Several of the team's players have extensive experience in Brazil's widespread CSGO scene, coming from teams such as INTZ, Tempo Storm, and FURIA Academy. The squad will play under the name CaseEsports and will be based in Madrid, according to an interview Casemiro gave to HLTV discussing the organization's formation.

"I know that creating a new team and winning titles will take time and require a lot of work, but I hope that the players and the fans will really enjoy this project," Casemiro said.

Casemiro's teammate Neymar is famous in Brazil's CSGO circles, especially when the star player makes an impressive play in the game. Recently, Neymar made CSGO news once again with smart clutch that was streamed live to his followers.

Even without Neymar on the squad, the new roster will look to make waves when it debuts at the upcoming DreamHack Open Winter European qualifiers scheduled to start on November 30.
