Jesy Nelson pulls out of MTV EMAs due to mystery illness

Jesy Nelson has pulled out of the MTV EMA's after taking ill.

The 29-year-old singer was due to host and perform at the European Music Awards alongside her Little Mix bandmates on Sunday (08.11.20) but she will now miss the awards and Little Mix's 'The Search' TV show final on Saturday (07.11.20) due to illness.

The band said in a statement: "Jesy is unwell and will not be appearing on tonight’s final of 'Little Mix The Search'. She will also not be hosting or performing at tomorrow’s MTV EMA’s."

Jesy had appeared on the semi-final of the BBC One show, just hours before her mystery illness was announced.

Meanwhile, Jesy's bandmates - Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock - will present the awards show without her.

The band - who have been nominated for Best Pop, Best Group and Best Virtual Live, previously announced their gig on Instagram, saying: "IT’S HAPPENING! We are SO excited to announce that we’re going to be hosting the @mtvema’s on November 8th. This is gonna be so much fun!"

Little Mix were formed 10 years ago on 'The X Factor' and Jade recently said: "I actually still can't believe that, as a girl band and as a pop girl band, we've lasted 10 years. That's literally unheard of. I think it's all right to blow your trumpet now and again. I think we should be really proud of ourselves for that. We've managed to reach a decade and we've always - up until a few years ago - we were always kind of the underdog. No one expected us to win 'The X Factor'. No one expected us to be around for a long time. I just think it's incredible, really."
