Putin Will Not Congratulate Biden Until ‘Legal Procedures’ Are Complete

Trump and Putin meet in Helsinki, Finland on July 16, 2018

According to a spokesman, Russian President Vladimir Putin will not congratulate U.S. President-elect Joe Biden until the election results are official and confirmed.

The spokesman said, “Anticipating your possible question about Putin congratulating the U.S. president-elect, I want to say the following: we consider it correct to wait for the official summing up of the results of the elections.”

Recently, the leader of Russia’s Central Election Committee Ella Pamfilova commented on mail-in ballots and insisted that this method of voting would encourage cheating and falsifications.

Her statements resonated with those of President Donald Trump who refused to accept the election results.

Despite Putin congratulating Trump right after his win in the presidential race with Hillary Clinton, the Russian President said “certain legal procedures” need to be completed in order for him to congratulate Biden.
