WATCH: Obama Slams GOP For ‘Disingenuous’ Election Fraud Claims

WASHINGTON, DC - MAY 11: U.S. President Barack Obama pauses as he speaks during an event to recognize emerging global entrepreneurs May 11, 2015 at the South Court Auditorium of Eisenhower Executive Office Building in Washington, DC....

Former Barack Obama expressed his disappointment in seeing GOP leaders support President Donald Trump‘s lawsuits and voter fraud claims.

“There’s damage to this,” Obama told 60 Minutes. “Because what happens is that the peaceful transfer of power— the notion that any of us who attain an elected office, whether it’s dog catcher or president, are servants of the people, it’s a temporary job, we’re not above the rules, we’re not above the law— that’s the essence of our democracy.”

The former president called he Trump administration’s fraud claims “disingenuous” because “they obviously didn’t think there was any fraud going on, because they didn’t say anything about it for the first two days.”

Despite President-elect Joe Biden claiming victory, Democrats were less successful than expected in their House and Senate races against Republican opponents.

Although only a few GOP leaders have accepted Biden’s win, some have asked for Biden to be included in presidential intelligence meetings.
