Team Hitch Wins OpTic Chicago Black Ops Cold War Launch Event

Karma wins back-to-back tournaments, this time with Team Hitch in OpTic Chicago’s launch event.

OpTic Chicago hosted the second event in a week of Black Ops Cold War tournaments ran by Call of Duty League teams. Retired three-time world champion Damon “Karma” Barlow took home another victory, winning the OpTic launch event with Team Hitch. Here’s how they took home the $20K first place prize.

Team Hitch’s Road to Victory

In the 4v4 tournament, Team Hitch consisted of Hitch, Karma, Cellium and Sender. The tournament began with a round-robin group play format. Team Hitch went 1-1, placing them second out of three in their group.

In round one they took on Team Dashy, this was a quick 3-0, moving them on to the semifinals where they played Team General. While this wasn't as quick of a match, Team Hitch was still too strong, taking a 3-1 victory with major help from the three-time World Champion Karma. Finally, they had to get past Team Envoy in the finals. Team Envoy had gone 2-0 in groups and already beaten Team Hitch, however, they came back for revenge, winning the finals and taking home the $20K prize.

This event saw Karma go back-to-back in these CDL Black Ops Cold War tournaments, leading many fans to call for his return to competitive play. While it is unlikely he will come out of retirement anytime soon, it’s good to see the three-time World Champion still playing at a level above the rest, and winning some serious cash in the process.
