The Florida Mutineers hosted their $25K Release the Kraken Invitational last night. This saw some of the best 4 man squads created, with many Call of Duty League teams mixing together. The winners were FaZe + OG, a combination of Chris “Simp” Lehr and Alec “Arcitys” Sanderson from Atlanta FaZe and Seth “Scump” Abner and Brandon “Dashy” Otell from OpTic Chicago.

FaZe + OG’s Road to Victory

In this 32 team tournament, FaZe + OG faced off against Team Huke in round one. This team consisted of Huke, Crimsix, Decemate and Temp. Following a disconnect due to the “Scan & Repair” issue, FaZe + OG found themselves 2-0 down. However, they came back and reverse swept to advance into round two. This also sent Team Huke home due to the tournament being single elimination.

In round two they took on Team Bance. Another strong team composed of Call of Duty League pros with Bance, Seany, Dylan and CleanX on the roster. However, they couldn't compete with FaZe + OG, and they took yet another win to advance to the quarter finals.

In the quarter finals they were up against Team Sicario, a team composed of amateur players Gunsiii, Pure, Nightmare and Ryza. FaZe + OG dominated, and breezed through to the semifinals where they’d take on Team JUJU. Team JUJU consisted of more amateur players, Juju, Crysis, NickHate and Welly. FaZe + OG took another win, sending them into the grand finals against another team of pro players.

Team Methodz consisted of Methodz, TJHaly, Cammy and Envoy. They were one of the best teams in the tournament, and gave FaZe + OG a run for their money. However, FaZe
+ OG came out on top, winning the series and winning the Release the Kraken tournament.
