First Lady Melania Trump has one last Christmas to oversee at the White House, but after her comments about Christmas leaked earlier this year, the internet is showing her no mercy with jokes and criticism as she prepares for the holiday.
On Monday, the White House’s official Christmas arrived and was greeted by the first lady. Melania also tweeted about the event, writing, “Each year the arrival of the #WHChristmas tree brings a spirit of holiday warmth & tradition to the @WhiteHouse. This year’s tree will continue to bring joy to those who will pass through the halls of the White House during this most wonderful time of the year.”
“Today I welcomed the arrival of the beautiful @WhiteHouse Christmas Tree! We are excited to begin decorating the People’s House for the holiday season! #WHChristmas,” she also said, in another tweet.
Though this event seems like just another normal White House tradition, nothing in the Trump White House is completely normal and Christmas is no exception. For the past few years, Melania Trump’s holiday decor choices have been mocked by the internet. After her comments about how she really feels about all the fancy White House customs leaked in October, the jokes have only multiplied.
“Who gives a f— about the Christmas stuff and decorations? But I need to do it, right?” the first lady told her former friend and aide Stephanie Winston Wolkoff in the leaked conversation that went viral.
Twitter had a field day with the comments after the Christmas tree’s welcoming.
Many users were quick to bring up her old comments after seeing her “pretending to care about Christmas.”
