Fortnite: $1.25 Million Twitch Rivals Streamer Bowl 2, Everything You Need To Know

Twitch Streamers and NFL Superstars combine for the second annual Twitch Rivals Streamer Bowl.

Professional Fortnite players and personalities exclusive to Twitch will clash with some of the National Football League’s (NFL) best gaming talents in the second annual Twitch Rivals Streamer Bowl. Last year, the event took place during last year’s Super Bowl week, where some massive Twitch streamers and NFL players combined to compete for $500K USD, all of which went to charitable causes. Some of the highest placing duos from last year included Ryan “Chap” Chaplo of Cloud 9 & Miami Dolphins defensive player Kyle Van Noy, Fortnite World Cup Champion Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf & Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Juju Smith-Schuster, Turner “Tfue” Tenney & Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray, and the event winners, Cody “Clix” Conrod of NRG Esports & Chicago Bears running back Tarik Cohen.

Streamer Bowl returns with some of the same names and new ones on the Fortnite and NFL side. Returning champion Clix will have the first pick in the draft that will take place before the Streamer Bowl 2 main event. All participants will be competing for $1M USD in charitable donations and $250K USD in cash prizes. The competition kicks off December 15 and will conclude during the Super Bowl on February 4, 2021.

Twitch Rivals Playoffs & Stream Bowl 2 Format

This year’s Streamer Bowl competition breaks into two contests: the Playoffs and the Streamer Bowl 2 main event. The Playoffs feature three segments - the Undercard, Title Card pt. 1 and Title Card pt. 2 - which all offer different Fortnite game modes for all participants. Let’s first take a look at each of the three Playoff formats:

The Undercard:

  • Two NFL Players compete alongside four Twitch Streamers in Arena Trios Pubstomps
  • Each Trio will feature one NFL Player with two Twitch Streamers
  • Each Trio will play three games of Arena Trios
  • Trios are ranked based on their total Points after all three games are played
  • Tiebreakers: One Total Elimination Differential, then two Total Eliminations

Title Card pt. 1:

  • The Twitch Streamers will be paired and compete in a 2v2 Zone Wars.
  • The first duo to reach 10 round wins, will win the segment. Must win by two.

Title Card pt. 2:

  • The Twitch Streamers compete in a 1v1 Zone Wars bracket.
  • In the Semifinals of the bracket, the first Streamer to 10 wins will win the match. Must win by two.
  • In the Finals of the bracket, the first Streamer to 15 wins will win the match. Must win by two.

As you can see, the three Playoff segments offer a blend of pub stomping and Zone Wars. Following the Playoffs will be a draft, which will decide the Twitch streamer and NFL player combinations heading into the Streamer Bowl 2 finale.

Draft Format

As the winner of the Streamer Bowl in February 2020, Clix will automatically receive the first pick for the Streamer Bowl 2 Player Draft.

All other streamers will be placed in the draft order by random draw, based on their performance in Playoffs Games (i.e. the four creators who placed 1st in their Playoffs Game will be randomly drawing into draft picks two through five, etc.).

Streamer Bowl 2 Finals

Now let’s see how the format will work for the Streamer Bowl 2 Finals.

Streamer Bowl 2 Format:

  • Teams: 30 Trios / 90 Players
  • Team Composition: Each Trio will consist of 1 NFL Player, 1 Twitch Streamer, and 1 Community Player
  • Game Mode: Arena Trios
  • Number of Games: Six (6) Games
  • Scoring: Trios will earn points based on placement and eliminations during each game. Trios are ultimately ranked based on total scores.

Tiebreakers:

  • Total number of Victories
  • Average eliminations per game
  • Average placement per game

The Grand Finals format is typical for those who have experienced competitive Fortnite tournaments in the past. Thirty trios consisting of one NFL player, one Twitch Streamer and one Community Player will compete in six custom matches. The highest point earners at the end of six games claim victory. For the sake of fairness, it appears that only placement points will matter in the Grand Finals, with no extra points awarded for eliminations.

Streamer Bowl 2 Prize Pool

A detailed prize pool breakdown is not available yet; however, we do know that participants are competing for $1M USD to charity. Additionally, the Twitch Streamers are eligible to win a piece of the separate $250K USD prize pool for the Title Card Fights. Check back here in the future for the prizing breakdown.

Streamer Bowl 2 Schedule & How to Watch

The competition begins with the Playoffs on December 15 and continues after the holidays on January 5. You can watch the entire Streamer Bowl tournament on the Twitch Rivals channel, and each streamer and presumably the NFL players will broadcast their perspectives. We expect to learn more information about this in the coming weeks.

This multi-level competition will surely garner a lot of attention, and the format change is an exciting change of pace from last year’s Streamer Bowl.
