MLB: The Top Free Agents of 2020

There is no doubt that Major League Baseball (MLB) is one of the most-awaited sports leagues around the world. Aside from being the oldest major professional sport, it is also the second wealthiest sport just behind the National Football League (NFL). Here are some of MLB’s top free agents:

J.T. Realmuto (Catcher)

Realmuto is regarded as one of the best catchers in the league. He has an average batting of .278. Realmuto has collected a total of 95 home runs throughout his career. Before joining the Philadelphia Phillies, he also played with the Miami Marlins.

Carlos Santana (First Base)

Also known as Slamtana, he is the first baseman who became a free agent. With his amazing skills, he is also known as one of the durable players of the league. He has a career batting average of .248 and has blasted 240 home runs.

In 2013 and 2017, Santana represented the Dominican Republic National Team at the World Baseball Classic.

According to the latest baseball update, Santana started all 60 games at first base with Cleveland.

DJ LeMahieu (Second Base)

The best thing about LeMahieu is his versatility. He can play at the first, second, and third base. Before joining the Yankees two years ago for a $24 million deal, he also played with Chicago Cubs in 2011 and Colorado Rockies from 2012 to 2018.

He has a batting average of .305 and scored a total of 85 home runs. What’s amazing is that he received the Wilson Defensive Player of the Year Award (2013, 2017, 2018), Silver Slugger Award (2019 and 2020), Gold Glove Award (2014, 2017, and 2018), and Fielding Bible Award (2017).

Didi Gregorius (Shortstop)

In 2019, Gregorius left everyone surprised by taking a one-year $14 million deal with the Phillies.

Before joining the Phillies, he also played with Cincinnati Reds (2012), Arizona Diamondbacks (from 2013 to 2014), and New York Yankees (from 2015 to 2019). He has a batting average of .265 and hit a total of 120 home runs throughout his career.

With his outstanding skills, he also played for the Dutch national baseball team at the Baseball World Cup in 2011.

Justin Turner (Third Base)

Turner actually won the 2020 World Series with the Dodgers. He also won the Most Valuable Player Award during the National League Championship Series in 2017. Recently, Turner just completed his $64 million four-year contract with the Dodgers.

He is also known as one of the most important members of the team both on and off the field. Big Red has a batting average of .292 and a career total of 124 home runs.

Marcell Ozuna (Left Field)

Ozuna joined the Atlanta Braves for a one-year $18 million deal after turning down a $17.8 million extension contract (qualifying offer) from the St. Louis Cardinals last year. Aside from the Atlanta Braves and Cardinals, he also played with the Miami Marlins from 2013 to 2017. He was the NL RBI leader and NL home run leader this year and missed winning the Triple Crown by .013 in batting average.

With the outstanding skills of these players, the question still remains: which team will they join?
