Lijnders says Liverpool management happy with young players' progress

Liverpool No2 Pep Lijnders says management are delighted with the progress of their young players.

Academy graduates Rhys Williams, Neco Williams and Curtis Jones have all made their Champions League debuts in recent weeks, and were joined by goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher in the 1-0 win over Ajax on Tuesday that confirmed qualification to the knockout stages as group winners.

And Lijnders said: "All of them are in different moments of their development, but all are building the ground of a professional career. That's the most important thing.

"When the process is fluid and you have a strong collective idea, it's much easier for a young player to come though and have a good consistent performance. And that's what has happened.

"We are really happy for all of them - what a dream that has been for them. Now they have all of their professional lives in front of them."
