UEFA Champions League Last 16 Draw

The 2020-21 UEFA Champions League last 16 draw was announced on Dec. 14 in Nyon, Switzerland. 

The winning 16 teams from the group stages were separated into two pots. One-pot included the teams that finished on the top of their group, which are Bayern Munich, Juventus, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Liverpool, Paris Saint Germain, Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund. The other pot included the teams that finished in second place, which are Atletico Madrid, S.S.C Lazio, Atalanta, FC Barcelona, Borussia Monchengladbach, Porto, Sevilla and RB Leipzig.

Teams from the first pot were drawn against teams in the second pot. The exceptions are that teams from the same group stage or league cannot be drawn against one another. 

Bundesliga club R.B. Leipzig will face current Premier League champions, Liverpool. Paris Saint Germain will face FC Barcelona, a game that will see former FC Barcelona superstar Neymar Jr. play against his former team. 

Portuguese club Porto will face current Serie A champions Juventus. Reigning Europa League champions Sevilla will face Borussia Dortmund. Serie A club S.S.C Lazio will face current Champions League champions Bayern Munich. La Liga club Atletico Madrid will face Premier League club Chelsea F.C. 

Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach will face Manchester City. Current La Liga champions Real Madrid will face Serie A club Atalanta. The Galacticos are up against the Serie A’s most exciting attacking line. 

Each game will have two legs, which means that each team is scheduled to play at home and away. The first legs will be held on Feb. 16-17 and Feb. 23-24, 2021. The second legs will be held on March 9-10 and March 16-17, 2021. 

The Champions League round of 16 games look exciting as always. Among the most challenging games are the Atletico Madrid vs. Chelsea FC game and FC Barcelona vs. PSG game. The other games will also be challenging as the competition is always full of surprises and unexpected results. The winning teams will play in the quarterfinals.
