Giannis Antetokounmpo will stay a Buck for the next five years.
The two-time MVP has agreed to a max contract extension with the Milwaukee Bucks. The reigning MVP shared the news Tuesday on Twitter. Antetokounmpo wrote, “This is my home, this is my city. I’m blessed to be able to be a part of the Milwaukee Bucks for the next 5 years.”
The contract extension ensures Antetokounmpo the spot for having the largest contract in NBA history. He is getting paid $282.2 million for six years and an average over the length of the contract of $45.6 million.
The 26-year-old forward is coming off a career-high season averaging 29.5 points, 13.6 rebounds and winning the MVP and Defensive Player of The Year awards. There was a bit of speculation that the Bucks’ franchise star might leave in the offseason after the team was eliminated in the second round. He was able to help Milwaukee turn around and become title contenders now and in the future.
