Flight attendants in China told to wear nappies to prevent the spread of coronavirus

Flight attendants in China have been advised to wear nappies.

New guidelines issued by the country's aviation authority have advised aeroplane staff to wear nappies so they do not have to use the toilet during a flight in measures taken to reduce the spread of coronavirus.

The Civil Aviation Administration of China's document offers a number of hygienic practices in a bid to prevent plane staff from contracting COVID-19.

It reads: "It is recommended that cabin crew members wear disposable diapers and avoid using the lavatories barring special circumstances to avoid infection risks."

The recommendation comes after a woman caught coronavirus during a trip from Italy to South Korea in August, with her visits to the toilet - the only place on the aircraft where she removed her mask - seen as a possible cause for her infection.
