Netflix testing audio-only feature

Netflix is working on a new audio-only mode.

The company as confirmed testing is underway for the new feature, with some subscribers seeing a 'video off' button at the top of their full-screen player.

As reported by Android Police, this will allow users to listen to shows - such as nature documentaries - in the background.

In a statement, a Netflix spokesperson said: "We're always looking for new ways to improve the Netflix mobile experience for our members.

"We run tests in different countries and for different periods of time -- and only make them broadly available if people find them useful."

Earlier this year, Netflix started testing a feature which would allow users to watch movies and shows at up to 1.5 times the normal speed.

However, the move proved controversial, with filmmakers - including 'Ant-Man' director Peyton Reed - criticising the feature on social media.
