The Brooklyn Nets are off to a great season start with a win over the Golden State Warriors. Nets Superstar Kevin Durant helped lead the way, as he answered concerns on whether he would be back to his old form.
The concerns were easily squashed as Durant played an explosive first quarter. Just like he did in a preseason game, he was scoring quick buckets in the first quarter as he racked up 10 points. The former MVP was draining mid-range shots with ease. The All-Star finished the game with 22 points, five rebounds and three assists.
The 32-year-old superstar suffered a torn ACL during the 2019 NBA Finals. There were doubts if the Durant would return to form when he was fully healed. However, during the preseason and on opening night, he showed off that he is still a lethal scorer. The superstar dismissed any doubts saying, “I don’t think I have to show anybody anything.”
Durant’s performance did not go unnoticed by his former team. Warriors coach Steve Kerr, who once coached the former MVP, gave praise to Durant’s game. “I could not tell one difference between seeing him 18 months ago and seeing him the other night,” Kerr said.
Golden States’ Steph Curry noticed the Nets star excellent play saying, “With KD out there – the way that he looked, he looked all the way healthy, confident in his body, so it was good to see obviously from a health standpoint.”
Both Durant and All-Star teammate Kyrie Irving led the Nets to a win. Irving himself was coming off a shoulder injury that had kept him sidelined since March of this year. Irving scored a team-high 26 points as the Nets crushed the Warriors 125-99.
